Trustees

The Association is unincorporated, which means it cannot own land in its own name. It owns land through Trustees, who hold the legal estate on behalf of members.

Under section 34 of the Trustee Act 1925, no more than four Trustees may hold land at any time.

Anything that involves the Association owning or dealing with land goes through them. Granting an easement or a Deed of Grant across a verge, for example, is formally an act of the Trustees.

When a Trustee stands down or is unable to continue, the remaining Trustees appoint a replacement, acting on the direction of the Management Committee.
